Leveling Up My Son’s Game with My Season Journal By Tom, Proud Football Dad
If there’s one thing my son, Harry, loves, it’s football. And I’m not just talking about kicking a ball around in the garden—I mean full-on, live-and-breathe football. He’s got talent, no doubt about it, and he’s been putting in some brilliant performances for his team. But as his dad, I knew there was room for him to take it even further. I wanted to help him push himself, not just on the pitch but also in how he thought about his game.
That’s when I stumbled across My Season Journal. At first, I thought, “It’s just a journal—how much impact could it really have?” But I was intrigued by the idea of helping Harry reflect on his matches and track his achievements, so I decided to give it a shot. Let me tell you, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made.
Harry took to the journal straight away. He loved the XP tracker—it’s like a video game but for football! Every time he hit a milestone or smashed a goal he’d set for himself, he’d light up. He’d grab his journal, scribble down his points, and show me with a massive grin on his face.
But what’s really impressed me is how much My Season Journal has changed the way Harry thinks about his game. The reflection sections have been a game-changer. After every match, he sits down to write about what went well and what he could improve on. At first, I thought he’d find it boring, but it’s been the complete opposite. He loves it.
It’s not just about writing, either—it’s the mindset it’s given him. Harry’s started setting goals every week. “This match, I’m going to try to assist a goal.” Or, “I’m going to work on staying in position.” And when he hits those goals, the confidence it gives him is unreal.
Since he started using the journal, his performances have gone from great to outstanding. He’s not just playing better—he’s playing smarter. And it’s not just me who’s noticed. His coach has been singing his praises, and Harry’s been picking up Player of the Match awards like they’re going out of fashion.
If you’re a parent of a football-mad kid who’s hungry to improve, I can’t recommend My Season Journal enough. It’s not just helped Harry play better—it’s helped him think better. And as a dad, seeing your kid smashing their goals and loving every second of it? That’s what it’s all about.
